I study ocean processes covering from mesoscale to small scales, with a focus on ocean mixing and turbulence. I use observations from ships and moored instruments, as well as from various complex platforms, including microstructure profilers and autonomous platforms.

Physical oceanography, ocean mixing and water mass transformations, boundary layer processes, dense water overflows, turbulence and mixing, fine and microstructure data acquisition and interpretation, convective processes leading to dense water formation, turbulence in the under ice boundary layer, air-ice-sea interaction, internal waves, turbulence parameterizations.
