Call for courses and workshops

Do you have an idea for a course or a workshop within the field of computational life sciences? Do you want to invite international experts to give lectures at this event? In this case, we wish to encourage you to propose a course or a workshop, to be organised with financial and administrative support from the CompLiNOR research school. These can be brand new courses, as well as adaptations of already existing courses and workshops. Workshops are typically more practical (e.g. with students working on their own data), closer to frontline research than courses, and do not necessarily need to teach basic concepts. Courses may include a proposed number of ECTS credits based on documented student workload; workshops do not carry ECTS credits.

We particularly welcome applications for courses and workshops that cover one or more of the following areas:

  • Structural Biology, e.g. Molecular Modelling, Methods for Protein Structure Analysis, Computational Methods for Drug Design
  • Genetics and Genomics, e.g. Genomics for Precision Medicine, Clinical Analysis of NGS Data, Deep Learning Methods in Regulatory Genomics, Microbial Comperative Genomics
  • Computing, e.g. High Performance Computing in Bioinformatics, Machine Learning in Medical Bioinformatics, Generative AI for Health and Life Sciences
  • Biostatistics and Epidemiology, e.g. Prediction in Molecular Biology, Modern Methods for Analyzing Survival and Time-to-Event Data, Genetic Epidemiology and Genome-Wide Association Studies, Introduction to Causal Inference
  • Systems Biology, e.g. Metabolic Pathway Analysis, Biological Network Analysis, Stochastic Modeling in Cell Biology, Constraint-Based Modelling, Introduction to Scientific Machine Learning, Multi-Modal Models for Clinical Decision Support, Modeling Population Dynamics
  • Transferable skills, e.g. research computing skills, AI for scientific writing, R for bio-scientists
  • FAIR data principles and open science, e.g. life science research data management

You are of course free to propose other topics within the scope of CompLiNOR.

Our financial support will cover travel-related expenses for invited and internal lecturers, as well as for participating student members from CompLiNOR. We will in addition provide a flat sum of 75 000 NOK per course (NOT for workshops) paid directly to the hosting department, to compensate time spent on preparation and teaching. Our administrative support may help during both planning and execution of the course or workshop, and will ease the process of making a course or workshop available across institutions.

Courses

Deadline: 18 October. Applications submitted within the deadline will be evaluated for funding for courses in the spring 2027.

You can find the online application form for courses here (external link).
