Access to the Course

To enroll in the course, it is required that you have admission to the Integrated Master’s Program in Energy (Civil Engineering), the Master’s Program in Energy, the Bachelor’s Program in Chemistry, or the Master’s Program in Chemistry at the Faculty of Science and Technology.

Compulsory Assignments and Attendance

  • Compulsory participation on computer exercises and approved reports.
  • Compulsory and approved submission and presentation of semester assignment.

Reports from the computer exercises must be submitted by the specified deadline. The semester assignment must be submitted and presented by the specified deadline. Approved compulsory assignments grants the right to take the exam.

Compulsory assignments are valid for three following semesters after approval.

Forms of Assessment

Portfolio assessment based on:

  • Reports from computer exercises (accounts for 25% of the final grade)
  • Submission and presentation of the semester assignment (accounts for 25% of the final grade)
  • Written exam (3 h) (accounts for 50% of the final grade).
  1. Compulsory assignments are valid for three following semesters after approval.
  2. In semesters with teaching:
    • Students with approved and valid compulsory assignments from previous semesters can take the final exam. The portfolio is assessed as a whole.
    • Students without approved and valid compulsory assignments from previous semesters must complete the portfolio assessment.
  3. In semesters without teaching:
    • Students with approved and valid compulsory assignments from previous semesters can take the exam. The portfolio is assessed as a whole.
    • Students without approved and valid compulsory assignments from previous semesters cannot take the exam.

Grading Scale

The grading scale used is A to F. Grade A is the highest passing grade in the grading scale, grade F is a fail.

Assessment Semester

Examination both spring semester and autumn semester. In semesters without teaching the examination will be arranged at the beginning of the semester

Reading List

The reading list will be available within July 1st for the autumn semester and December 1st for the spring semester.

Course Evaluation

The course will be evaluated by the students in accordance with the quality assurance system at UiB and the department.

Normally, referents groups will be used each year.
