Teaching and learning methods

The course includes lectures, demonstrations, seminars, preclinical courses and clinical training. Clinical training (section specific) in endodontology starts after completion of the preclinical course (6th semester) and continues for a full year (7th and 8th semester). The teaching is to be continued as general comprehensive treatment (9th and 10th semester).

Compulsory Assignments and Attendance

Approved section specific clinical training is a prerequisite to take the theoretical and clinical test.

All teaching is mandatory, except for lectures. The student is responsible for reporting absences, and unexcused absences are not allowed. In addition to the attendance requirements, the academic requirements must be met, both in terms of the quality of the work and sufficient practice.

In this subject, mandatory activities are valid for two semesters.

Forms of Assessment

  • A 45 minutes theoretical test and 2,5 hour individual assignment
  • Evaluation of completed work during the clinical training

When the assessment method in a subject is a ‘written test’, two continuous tests will be arranged shortly for students without valid results. Students who have not achieved valid results after three attempts will be moved to lower classes. The three attempts that belong to each implementation of the subject are counted as one assessment attempt in accordance with UiB’s regulations on studies §8-1 (1). Due to the short time between the regular and new test, complaints about grading will not be processed until the third attempt has been completed. If the third attempt is conducted as an oral test, the two previous written attempts will be the subject of the complaint process.
