Course description

Objectives and Content

A project will be specified and should be implemented under the guidance of an advisor from the department. This will be a programming project for a client that has a need for the developed solution. Note that there is a limited number of projects to choose fro, but it is also possible to suggest projects to the responsible lecturer. Available projects will be announced at Mitt UiB, at the INF219 site. Questions about available projects can be made directed to the study advisor at the Department of Informatics (studieveileder@ii.uib.no).

Learning Outcomes

On completion of the course the student should have the following learning outcomes defined in terms of knowledge, skills and general competence:

Knowledge

The student knows about

  • Basic project and time management strategies
  • Basic strategies for collaborative teamwork in a practical setting
  • Effective writing and presentatnion methods

Skills
The student can

  • participate in a programming project
  • contribute to the written documentation of a project work in the form of a technical report
  • give an oral presentation of a project work in which the student has participated

General competence

The student can

  • communicate effectively within a team of peers
  • communicate effectively in both oral and written form to others
  • work together in a team to solve a problem

The reading list will be available within July 1st for the autumn semester and December 1st for the spring semester.

The course will be evaluated by the students in accordance with the quality assurance system at UiB and the department.
